Our Coaches

Growing our Coaching team 2024/25

With our growing number of motivated and experienced riders we are seeking to expand our rally coaching teams for both Senior and Junior rallies.

COACHING OPPORTUNITIES

For the upcoming season we want to offer specialist clinics and coaching to our members (either during rallies or at alternative suitable times) for our riders to develop their specialist skills, prepare for competitions, or to learn a particular skill for their certificates. These may be held on site or off site at the most appropriate venue. We are seeking Expressions of Interest from coaches who would be interested in coaching as part of our weekly rally coaching team, and from coaches who would interested in running specialist clinics or coaching sessions.


 

RALLY COACHES

​

Responsibilities:

  • At the beginning of each season the coaches will work together to ensure that riders are in the right level group. The things considered are: Group size - we aim to have a maximum of 6 riders in each group, Ability of horse and rider & Age - we aim to have children with similar age groups.

  • Work with the Head coach to develop weekly coaching activities and development plans for members.

  • Understand the needs of riders' aims and goals for the season.

  • Work with Head coaches to nominate riders for teams, events and prizes.

  • Attend celebrations such as prize giving.

 

Our coaches are committed to:

  • Starting the rally on time at 5:30pm. 

  • Providing a safe environment for riding and learning.

  • Supporting and assisting riders to reach their personal goals.

  • Encouraging riders to sometimes challenge themselves if they feel they are ready.

  • Encouraging positive peer support and pony club spirit.

  • Providing feedback on their riding & handling of their pony/horse.

 

Requirements:

  • Completed or working towards NZPCA Coaching certificates

  • Understating of the NZPCA Coaching curriculum

  • Previous Coaching Experience

  • Great team player

  • Passionate about sharing your knowledge and experience to help our riders be the best they can be.

  • First aid level 1, and or 2 is an advantage

 

SPECIALIST COACHES

Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Head coach and committee to develop specialist coaching activities

  • Understand the needs of riders for each session

  • Provide feedback to riders and head coach

  • Understanding to NZPCA curriculum is an advantage

 

Requirements

  • Established experience in their field

  • Solid coaching experience

  • Committed to the NZPCA values and Vision

  • Previous Coaching Experience

  • Great team player

  • Passionate about sharing your knowledge and experience to help our riders be the best they can be

  • First aid level 1 and or 2 is an advantage
